Joint Statement on China-US Geneva Trade Talks

Both parties have pledged to take the following actions before May 14, 2025:

 

The United States

 

1. Adjust Tariffs: Amend Executive Order No. 14257 issued on April 2, 2025, which imposes ad valorem tariffs on Chinese goods (including those originating from the Hong Kong and Macau Special Administrative Regions). Specifically:

  ●  Suspend the 24% tariff for an initial period of 90 days.

  ●  Retain the remaining 10% tariff as stipulated in the executive order.

2. Remove Additional Tariffs: Eliminate tariffs imposed under Executive Order No. 14259 (April 8, 2025) and Executive Order No. 14266 (April 9, 2025).

 

China

 

1. Adjust Tariffs: Amend the provisions of Tax Commission Announcement No. 4 (2025) regarding ad valorem tariffs on U.S. goods. Specifically:

  ●  Suspend the 24% tariff for an initial period of 90 days.

  ●  Retain the remaining 10% tariff on these goods.

  ●  Remove additional tariffs imposed under Tax Commission Announcements No. 5 and No. 6 (2025).

2. Non-Tariff Measures: Take necessary steps to suspend or remove non-tariff countermeasures targeting the U.S. that were introduced after April 2, 2025.

 

Following the implementation of these measures, both sides will establish a mechanism to continue consultations on trade and economic relations.
