The South African Tyre Manufacturers Conference (SATMC) has been appointed as a member of the Waste Tyre Management Industry Advisory Committee, which is tasked with implementing South Africa’s Waste Tyre Management Plan approved by the Cabinet in March 2024. SATMC represents four multinational tyre manufacturers operating in South Africa.
Nduduzo Chala, Managing Director of SATMC, has been appointed as the Vice Chair of the committee, while Charl de Villers, Chair of the Tyre Importers Association of South Africa (TIASA), will serve as the Chair.
Nduduzo Chala stated, “As SATMC, we look forward to working closely with all committee representatives and the broader industry to advance the goals of the Waste Tyre Management Plan, which include expanding waste tyre processing capacity, developing monitoring systems, and supporting municipal waste management initiatives.”
The committee also includes representatives from the Retail Motor Industry (RMI), Tyre Equipment and Parts Association (TEPA), South African Tyre Recycling Industry Association, South African Recycling Association, and the Waste Tyre Management Forum. Other members include the Black Business Council (BBC), Business Unity South Africa (BUSA), the Minerals Council South Africa, the Department of Science and Innovation, and the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition.
